Finding Wholesale Drop Ship Merchandise to Sell Online–Getting Started Right Now

Product Sourcing for Home Business–Is Dropshipping Wholesale Products the Best Business Model for You?

Easy money made dropshipping wholesale goods? Are you thinking about making a living or supplementing your income on eBay or selling goods through your own, private online ecommerce store? If so, you have a number of important issues to think about.

You have probably wondered whether or not dropshipping is the best way to handle product sourcing for your home business. Can it work for you? Drop ship companies–also known as dropship aggregators–can be quick, safe, and relatively easy way to start doing business. However, dropship companies are not necessarily the same as wholesale companies who offer dropshipping, and dropshipping may not fit every business model. Is it the right business model for you, and how in the world do you find products to sell online?

In essence, though, dropshipping is pretty uncomplicated, though the devil is in the details. The drop ship business either stocks its own inventory or brokers inventory from a selection of wholesale businesses. You, in turn, choose the products you want to sell but never have to worry about actually stocking the inventory. The dropshipper offers you a low, near wholesale price, and you sell the products to your customers but marking up the price above the dropshipper price. When you make sales, you then purchase from the dropshipper, and the dropship company ships the item under your business name to your customer. But, you want to know if dropshipping is profitable. I address that question directly in the post, Can Can I Make Money With Dropshipping?

Drop shipping is frequently promoted as a sure fire way to make money on EBay. That’s primarily because the dropshipper is in charge of stocking inventory and shipping products to your customers. Dropship products are also confused with wholesale products, and wholesale products are, in turn, often wrongly represented as the cheapest products on the market. Drop shipping can be effective, and many people doing dropshipping are successful. However, it is important for you, a prospective EBay seller, to understand that the EBay market is very competitive. It is so competitive, in fact, that to be sure of profit, you must really research your products and dropship company to verify the liklihood of your coming out ahead. A reliable dropship directory can be a valuable resource once you have an idea of your product line. The best dropship directories will help out by listing multiple sources and verify the integrity of the product suppliers.

Because dropshipping is such a hot topic, there are many such businesses online and are not difficult to find. It is important to understand that some dropshippers are retailers selling at a discount and others are true wholesale businesses offering dropshipping as a service to you. That is important because it can affect the price you pay to the dropshipper. It is also important to communicate with the product supplier to thoroughly understand their terms of service, and to get a feel for reliability and quality of customer service.

When choosing a dropshipper, one of the most important features to look for is good customer service. It is also important, of couurse, that the product prices are low, but without good customer service, great prices won’t mean very much. You also need to be certain of dropshipper policies concerning shipping and handling, returns, guarantees and warrenties. These will be the key points you will use to make a decision.

How to find a drop ship company? Well . . .

You can look online. However, truth be told, true wholesalers have little incentive to advertise online as their customer base is generally the larger retail businesses. Rarely do true wholesalers market to the small ecommerce store or to Internet marketers. For that reason, most of the dropshippers you find online will be dropship aggregators, retail businesses brokering goods to you, the seller. If you look hard, though, you should be able to find wholesalers who also dropship your inventory.

Sign up for an online, dropship wholesale directory. If you are serious about this, why not invest in a good online directory? These often list thousands of suppliers and may save you a good deal of time in research.

Contact manufacturers. You can find manufacturers through the Thomas Register, Global Sources, and Ali Baba. You can also use your local library reference registers of manufacturers. And don’t forget the online yellow pages, and your local chamber of commerce.

One tip that I think is really important, and that I almost forgot, is to know exactly what it is you want to sell. In other words, know your product. This will simplify things immensely. Remember, there are thousands of products, thousands of manufacturers, thousands of distributors and so on and so on. If you don’t know what you want to sell, figure that out before you start worrying about finding a dropshipper.

Survival Facts about Wholesale DVDs and Wholesale DVD Distributors

If you are just starting out, the first thing you must know is that legitimate wholesale DVDs–even though they are wholesale–are expensive. That means, for example, that you really can’t buy brand new releases–non counterfeit releases–of box office hits for $2, $3, or even $5. I know that this contradicts the low cost that you see on eBay and with Amazon merchants. $2 and $5 and far less may be accurate for lower demand older movies, but you cannot pick up a copy of, say, “Batman Begins” for $2 or $5 or $7. The real wholesale cost for a single copy is closer to $19 and change. That is if you are purchasing from a true wholesale distributor authorized by the studio to sell to the retail trade.
