Affordable Internet? Get A Satellite Internet System

Living in a rural area has a lot to recommend it, but high speed internet is not one of those things. As you have probably discovered, the infrastructure needed for DSL and Cable doesn’t exist in the country. Until recently, your only alternative was a dial-up service. But there is now an alternative. Internet service providers can now offer a satellite internet system to their rural customers.

Access to the internet via satellite uses a satellite located in space to deliver broadband access to its users. And there are a lot of users who are enjoying high speed internet because of this technology.

As you might have guessed there is a downside to satellite internet and that’s the cost. Compared to other types of broadband, it is more expensive but still affordable.

There are two basic types of satellite broadband systems; one way and two way. Here is the difference between them.

A one way satellite system uses a regular dial-up modem. It will have fewer issues with rain fade or latency than a two way system might. With one way service, users get access to fast download speeds of between 400Kbps and 1.5 Mbps. As you might guess, one way satellite is cheaper than two way satellite.

With the more usual two way satellite system, you don’t use a modem at all. Because of that one fact, you will get faster access to the internet as well as faster download speeds than are possible with a one way satellite system. It is more costly than one way though.

The question you need to think about is which service is best suited for your needs along with how much you want to spend to get this service. You’ll find that most internet service providers will have a number of plans available for both types.

If you’re mainly concerned with cost, you will probably want to look at one way satellite. If it’s available in your area, you might even be able to do the installation yourself and save yourself this charge. Monthly fees vary depending on the plan you choose and how long you sign on for.

So if you aren’t able to get Cable or DSL why not check with your local internet service provider to discuss an affordable satellite internet system and get rid of slow dial-up.

Do you live in an underserviced area which means you can’t access DSL or cable internet? Are you finding it more and more frustrating to be stuck with dial-up internet?
